Verification of concurrent activities within the EEA
In the European Economic Area, under EU rules, an individual conducting activities in multiple member states can only be insured in one member state.
If an employee is engaged in activities in two or more member states simultaneously, Hungarian insurance coverage can be extended beyond the national borders with an A1 certificate. The certificate becomes invalid if the circumstances of the concurrent activities change.
Application for an A1 certificate
The health insurance authority responsible based on the insured person’s place of residence issues the A1 certificate with a maximum validity of 24 months, which can be extended upon request until the circumstances change or until the activity concludes.
